The Michael Stanley MakerSpace at the Chesapeake Arts Center…is a collaborative workspace designed to create a hands-on learning experience, bring technology and tools into the hands of our community, and foster an environment for invention and play.
There are a number of ways to utilize our MakerSpace:
Classes: Take a workshop, or a several-week course in a variety of our shop areas, including the wood shop, laser lab, 3D printing lab, or screen printing lab. All classes are beginner-friendly and help you develop your building confidence, while incentivizing you to take on harder challenges, and ultimately, become a better maker.
Open Studio: Self-directed access to tools and equipment, perfect for personal projects, a small business, collaboration with others, or, finally tackling that project you’ve been meaning to work on. Enrollment in a multi-week ‘Beginning’ section class required prior to utilizing Open Studio, or designated workshop that includes a safety training.
Maker Meet-up Events: Connect with fellow makers and artists through our free events as they share their craft, showcase their latest projects, and answer your questions. Snacks and light refreshments provided! Events run in fall and spring.

During Open Studio, makers have access to the tools and equipment in the Michael Stanley MakerSpace during our operating hours. Open Studio is available to anyone ages 16+ who has enrolled in either our multi-week 'Beginning' section class or a relevant workshop that includes safety training.
