For Vincent Price, Jr., all signs point towards happiness and success as he prepares to graduate from medical school and start his own practice. With the support of both parents, no matter the approach, he has surpassed every expectation and defied every stereotype. Unfortunately, being the best of the best doesn’t protect us from what can feel like the greatest blessing or the most horrible curse - life. The trials and tribulations of the black man are often steeped in a dedicated tradition of strong and fortified masculinity. But what happens when the veil between perception and reality is torn? We do our best to remain strong as the men that the world expects to see. However, that energy comes with an expiration date. Vince Jr. has reached his breaking point. And he may not be the only one. What You Don’t See is a theatrical depiction of one of today’s most prevalent struggles - the desire to simply live. We will introduce a story that binds eight men together who need help in different ways and are searching to find it. This exposure of the daily frustration that African American men have with mental wellness will grip you in ways that you can’t even imagine. Take this journey with us into the doors of the Sacred Heart Hospital and see for yourself.

When you arrive at CAC and turn into the parking lot from Hammonds Lane, follow the parking lot past Hammonds Lane Theatre to the rear of the building and look for a large blue awning and sign that says Chesapeake Arts Center (Next to the Maya Angelou mural.)
