About Christine: Yoga is an important component to self fulfillment. While practicing the postures, you have to consciously breathe and relax into your most ideal expression. Everyone has their own individual sweet spot, the places where the postures make the most sense. In the group situation, there is a collective consciousness that becomes apparent. Everyone benefits from working out in a group. The breath is together, the movement is together. Everyone is coordinated.

But yoga is an individual pursuit. Being with the group is a bonus. The real work is for each person in the class.

In yoga class, I regularly encourage students to try something that they may not have tried before. Some postures may seem daunting, like the headstand and the crow. With careful coaching and step by step progression, those difficult postures can be realized. All it takes is time and control. Nothing is rushed.

I have a background in photography, writing, and forestry. I have always been physically active, participating in running, long distance cycling, open water swimming, triathlon, and various water sports. Now as I’m aging, I know flexibility is very important. I wish to share yoga practice with as many people as I can, so that everyone can have the ability to continuously move throughout life.

My yoga training is with Sri Dharma Mittra, the 83 year old yoga master, based in New York City. He is a powerful inspiration with his mobility and intellectual knowledge. A Dharma class includes the postures, guided meditation, and breath work. It is a complete practice, designed to target all parts of the body and settle the mind. It is a wonderful class!

I have been certified to teach Dharma I since March, 2020. Presently, I am in the process of being certified in Dharma II and Dharma III.

Yoga is for everyone! There is always something everyone can do in a class.
